The database search finds tracks directly in the RadioBOSS media
library and is considerably faster than the FTP file search. It is
only available if a connection to the RadioBOSS database is set up in
the server profile; otherwise the database modes are not visible.

Search modes:

- DB Artist+Title: searches artist and title (default).
- DB All tags: additionally searches genre and album.
- DB Artist: searches the artist field only.
- DB Title: searches the title field only.
- DB Genre: searches the genre field only.
- DB File name: searches the file path instead of the tags.
- DB All fields: searches all tag fields plus the file path.

Several search words:

In every mode each word entered must occur in at least one of the
fields searched. “Donna Summer” therefore also finds a track with
“Donna” in the artist and “Summer” in the title.

Searching the file path:

The two modes “DB File name” and “DB All fields” search the complete
path. Two things are worth knowing. First, every path contains the
names of its directories, so short search words can produce a great
many hits. Second, only these two modes also find tracks that have no
tags at all: for them the path is the only thing to search.

Note on the renaming:

What earlier versions called “DB All fields” is now called “DB All
tags”. The name “DB All fields” now denotes the new mode that also
searches the file path. A stored setting keeps its previous behaviour
and is merely named differently.

Starting the search:

Open the search bar with Ctrl+F, choose the mode you want, enter the
search term and confirm with Enter or the “Search” button. The search
returns up to 200 hits. There is no progress bar because it answers
immediately.

Repeat-play filter:

When the “> 1d” option is ticked, tracks played within the past 24
hours are hidden. Tracks that have never been played always appear.

Results:

Tracks found are shown in the result list. Enter and the menu key both
open the context menu of the selected entry; from there you insert the
track into the playlist or the OnAir list. Drag and drop works as
well. A double-click plays the file in the built-in player.

Missing files:

Tracks whose file was not found during the last library check carry
their own icon, and their number is announced after the search. They
are shown deliberately rather than hidden, because such an entry may
simply mean that the file was moved.

The search mode last chosen is stored and pre-selected the next time
the search is opened.
