Single audio files cannot be taken from the FTP directory into the playlist or the on-air list as tracks. The source tabs are meant for that, for instance Song or Jingle; your own voice recordings are made in the VoiceTrack tab. A whole playlist file, on the other hand, can indeed be taken over from the FTP directory or sent to the running show - the entries for that are in the context menu of the FTP list and are described in the chapters "Adding tracks" of the playlist and of the on-air list.

Previewing

A double click on an audio file loads it into the player of RemotePLE. The file is downloaded temporarily for that and then played locally.

If a track is loaded in the player and the connection to the SQL server is set up, Ctrl+T opens the cue point and tag editor. See the chapters "Cue point editor" and "Tag editor".

Downloading a file

Select the file in the FTP list and choose "Download File" in the context menu (key w in the menu). The Windows file dialog opens, where you choose the target folder and the file name; the name of the server file is already entered. Before it opens, RemotePLE announces what this is about, afterwards where the file was saved or that you cancelled. If the target file already exists, you are asked first.

Uploading a file

In the context menu of the FTP list choose "Upload File" (key u in the menu). The Windows file dialog opens for choosing the local file; it is transferred into the FTP directory currently open. Here too the target is announced beforehand and the result afterwards.

Alternatively you can drag files from Windows Explorer onto the FTP list.

If a transfer fails, this is announced. Details are then in the log file next to the program.

Progress

During a transfer a progress bar appears above the player, and the status bar shows the speed. On SFTP connections a moving indicator runs instead, because the file size is not known in advance in every case.

Automatic transfers

When saving, the playlist is written to the server automatically, via Ctrl+S or the menu entry "Save Playlist". This happens in the background, and you can keep working meanwhile.
